Privacy Policy
Last updated 7 October 2026
This policy explains what Camera Desk collects, why, who processes it for us, how long it is kept and the choices you have. It covers the Camera Desk app for iPhone and iPad and the website camdesk.app, including photographers' booking pages and the pages clients use to follow a booking.
1. Who we are
Camera Desk is run by Muaviyath Nizar, an individual developer based in the Maldives (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at support@camdesk.app.
2. Photographers and their clients
Photographers use Camera Desk to run their business. Clients book a photographer through the photographer's booking page and follow their booking on a page of their own. Clients do not need an account.
For a photographer's own account, we decide how the information is used. For the information a photographer keeps about their clients, the photographer decides what to collect and why, and we store and process it on the photographer's behalf. If you are a client with a question about your booking, please contact your photographer first. You can also contact us.
3. Using the app without an account
You can use the app without an account. Your shoots, clients, money records, gear and documents are then stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage, which we cannot read. The app shows the weather for the region you choose from Apple's weather service, which is sent only the coordinates of that region's main city. Your name, account and device location are never sent, although, as with any internet request, Apple can see your device's IP address.
4. What we collect when a photographer creates an account
- Account: your email address and password. Your password travels over an encrypted connection and is never stored as you typed it: our sign-in provider keeps only a one-way scrambled version (a hash), which can check a password but can't be turned back into one. Nobody, including us, can read your password.
- Business profile: business and display name, booking page address, logo, banner and portfolio images, contact details, and the payment details you choose to show your clients, such as a bank name and account number.
- Price list and page content: packages, add-ons, shoot types, questions, questionnaires, agreement text and pose pictures.
- Bookings and client records: requests made through your booking page, and bookings the app keeps in step with the website (see section 5).
- Documents: the quotations, invoices, agreements and receipts you send to clients, as PDF files.
- Galleries: photos you upload for your clients. Galleries are end-to-end encrypted. Anyone with the private link can open them. Your client opens their gallery through the private link you send them. Camera Desk cannot see your photos. A gallery is never public, listed or searchable. If your client shares their link, whoever they share it with can see the gallery too. Camera Desk does not own your photos (see our Terms of Use). We will never open or look at the photos in a gallery, and we never use them for advertising or to train artificial intelligence. To fix a problem, we may check the technical records around a gallery, such as file sizes, dates and error logs, but never the photos themselves. If we receive a report that a gallery holds illegal content, we can switch it off or remove it without opening it. The only exception is a legal order that requires us to hand files to the authorities; where the law allows, we will tell you first.
- Money summaries: monthly income and cost totals and recurring costs, used for your dashboard.
- Subscription records: Apple takes the payment when you subscribe in the app. Apple sends us the transaction numbers, plan, dates and status so we can give you what you paid for. We never receive card details.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications, your phone's notification address, so we can tell you when a client does something.
- Messages to us: anything you send through Feedback or by email.
5. What we collect about clients
When a client books a photographer or uses their booking page, we store what they enter: name, phone number, email address, the date and details of the shoot, answers to the photographer's questions, party details, chosen poses, the name they type to sign an agreement, and any payment slip they upload. A client who uses “View your booking” gives us their email address so we can send a sign-in link.
6. What is collected automatically
- Page views: we count how many times each booking page is viewed per day. The count is not linked to any visitor.
- Bot checks: our forms use a bot-check service to tell people from automated programs. It receives technical information about your browser and your IP address.
- Server logs: our hosting providers keep short-lived records of requests, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting. Our sign-in service also records the IP address of each sign-in.
- Do Not Track: we do not track you across other websites, and no other company collects information on our pages to follow you across other websites, so our pages work the same whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.
- Cookies and local storage: essential only. They keep you signed in and remember your language and display settings. We use no advertising or analytics cookies.
7. How we use information
- To provide Camera Desk: booking pages, client pages, documents, galleries, and keeping the app and the website in step.
- To send emails for photographers and their clients: booking confirmations, quotations, documents, reminders, sign-in links and notices before a gallery closes.
- To send notifications to the photographer's phone.
- To provide subscriptions and the storage they include, and to check with Apple whether a subscription has ended before any gallery is closed.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and look into reports about pages that break our Terms of Use.
We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising, show advertising, track you across other companies' apps or websites, or use your content to train artificial intelligence.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the law asks us to give our reason for each use. We use a photographer's information to provide the service they signed up for. We keep the service secure and prevent abuse because we have a legitimate interest in a safe service for everyone who uses it. We keep records when the law requires it. For clients' information, the photographer decides the reason, and we process it on their behalf.
8. Who processes information for us
We use service providers only to run Camera Desk, and share information only with providers that protect it to the standard this policy describes. They provide:
- Hosting: the website, our database, file storage and sign-in.
- Gallery storage: the photos in client galleries.
- Security: bot checks on our forms.
- Email: sending the emails Camera Desk sends, and receiving the emails you send us.
- App Store, iCloud, Apple Maps and Apple Weather: purchases, notifications, syncing between your devices, finding shoot locations on the map, and the forecast for your region. Only the coordinates of your region's main city are sent for the forecast, never your device's location.
- Backups: private copies of our database, each kept for 90 days.
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect people from fraud or harm.
9. Where information is stored
Your information is stored and processed on servers in other countries, including Singapore, Japan, the United States and the European Union. Some requests, such as bot checks and cached pages, are handled by the server nearest to you.
10. How long we keep information
- While your account is open, we keep your information so the service works. The exception is client galleries: when a photographer's plan ends, their galleries stay open for at least 30 days and are then deleted (see our Terms of Use, section 7).
- Photographers decide how long to keep their clients' bookings. Deleting a booking in Camera Desk deletes its records, and its client gallery's, from our servers; its photos can stay in our storage until the photographer's account is deleted, and longer only where the law requires us to keep them.
- A deleted gallery's photos are removed from our storage for good; that storage is not backed up. We keep a short record that a gallery was deleted (when, and how many files and bytes; never its photos, names or notes) for 12 months. Its database records, which cannot open any photo, leave our backups within 90 days.
- When you delete your account, we delete your information from our live systems straight away. Copies in our backups are deleted within 90 days.
- Email providers and Apple keep their own records under their own policies.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time, in the app's settings or on your dashboard at camdesk.app. This deletes your profile, booking page, price list, bookings, client records, documents, galleries and files from our servers. It does not cancel an App Store subscription: cancel that in your Apple Account settings. Anything kept only on your device or in your own iCloud stays there until you delete it.
12. Your choices and rights
- See and correct your information in the app or on your dashboard.
- Export a backup of your desk from the app.
- Delete your account, as described above.
- Turn notifications off in your device's settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, at support@camdesk.app.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, such as the right to object to how your information is used or to complain to a data protection authority. Clients who want to see, correct or delete information about a booking can ask their photographer, or ask us and we will help.
13. Security
Information travels over encrypted connections. Each photographer's records are kept apart at the database level, so one account cannot read another's. No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
14. Children
Camera Desk is not directed at children. Photographer accounts are for people aged 18 or over.
15. Changes to this policy
When our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top. For a significant change, we will also tell photographers in the app or by email.
